About Centre-Based Supports and Group Participation
Centre-Based Supports and Group Participation is a NDIS support service that helps participants build on their social skills, confidence, and connections, by participating in social activities, usually in a group setting and often at a centre or community venue.

Shine House is a house converted into a community centre where individuals can gather outside of their home. Here, they can come with their support workers or come with their friends to engage, connect and learn. Who can benefit from
Centre-Based Supports and Group Participation?
Different kinds of participants can benefit from Centre-Based Supports and Group Participation. For example: children, teens, or adults with disabilities can benefit from different formats of engagement, examples:
Structured day programs
Social or life-skills groups
Group-based learning, recreation, or therapy
This also includes participants who need support to:

What you need to get started
To receive Centre-Based Supports and Group Participation service, you must first be an eligible NDIS participant, and then the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Agency – NDIA) must assess Centre-Based Supports and Group Participation as a necessary support for you.

NDIS Eligibility for Centre-Based Supports and Group Participation
A person with a NDIS plan will generally be able to access funding through the NDIS for transport assistance, if you cannot use public transport without substantial difficulty due to your disability.

What is Centre-Based Supports and Group Participation service?
Centre-Based Supports and Group Participation are Services that enable participants to connect and engage at a dedicated facility (a community venue, hub, centre, or clinic) rather than in the home or community.
Who is not eligible for Centre-Based Supports and Group Participation?
NDIS usually won’t fund the Centre-Based Supports and Group Participation if they are:
- Just supervision
- Replacing school or education
- Not clearly linked to disability-related needs or goals
